Jan 30, 1925 Honorable Peter Norbeck, United States Sentate. My dear Mr. Norbeck; In response to your letter of the twenty-ninth instant, i have the honor to advise you that from the papers in the Revolutionary War pension clim, S. 6914, it appears that John Green was born on Rocky Creek, S.C. date not stated. He moved to Tryon county, North Carolia, when he was a small child, and when about sixteen years old moved back to South Carolina. He enlisted at Cherokee Ponds, South Carolina in June or July 1781 and served twelve months as a private in Captain Jesse Johnson's Company, Colonel Samuel Hammond's South Carolina Regiment. He was allowed pension on his application executed October 22, 1832, while a resident of Burke County N.C. aged 70 years. After the Revolution he went to Rutherford County, North Carolina, where he married, name of wife not stated, and no further details as to said marriage. (my grandma wrote Elizabeth Jones here) Soldier died June 2, 1853 in Madison County NC, leaving no widow, but five children who survived in 1856 - James, Joseph, Arthur, Aaron and Isabella or Izabella.
