| #26 SPRING
Somehow the world looks fresh and clean
When trees bud out and grass gets green.
With bees a buzzin' 'round the hive
You feel the whole world's come alive.
The birds a Chirpin' in the trees
With branches swayin' in the breeze.
No greater gift could nature bring
Than all the wonders of the spring.

I guess that's why when spring comes round
I feel like diggin' in the ground.
Or rakin' leaves and burnin' weeds
Then pickin' out my garden seeds.
I feel like gettin' on the ball
And doin' chores I left last fall.

I put on my old garden duds
To sort and cut a few seed spuds.
 And get already pretty soon
There's going to be a change of moon.
 With these preparations made
I hunt up my old garden spade.
Get some string to mark out rows
 Patch the leaky garden hose.
Then grease the rusty two wheel cart
Be ready when it's time to start.

I'll plant some taters, corn and beans
 Carrots, beets and turnip greens
 lettuce and radishes, cabbage too
Tomato plants I'll have a few
This should care for all my needs
If I hoe and pull out weeds
I've said it every year before
Wish I'd bought it at the store.
