Page 74 Willis went back to Okobojo where he worked most of the time. He did spend one or two winters with us and worked at Armour's packing plant but most fo the time he was in or around Okobojo. I started going to the Methodist Church and began to get acquainted through the Epworth League (MYF). I consider it one of the best places I ever got into. I recommend a church as the best place for all young people. It doesn't hurt the older ones either. I got off on the wrong foot in high school and never did get in step. Lots of the students went out of their way to help me get my work done but I just wouldn't put my mind to it. Guess I figured an education wasn't necessary to play a fiddle by ear and live in Okobojo. And that was what I wanted to do and where I wanted to live. I learned different but by that time it was too late. I don't remember when I met Walter Blake. He was a freshman too and one day after school we walked home |
