By the time Geo had finished his story the storm was over so we went top side.  My ribs hurt and I could hardly get up the steps of the cellar so Flansburgs took me in the house and put me to bed.  

Willis & Geo headed for the town and found it a wreck.  The houses, store, school house and printing office were still standing but smaller buildings were gone and the town hall was a pile of scrap lumber in the street.  

Everything but the house at our place was gone.  Ma had gone out to put the little chickens in before it rained.  When the rain and wind hit the chicken house collapsed and she was pinned under one side of it.  After everything else in the yard blew away the wall was lifted off of her.  Except for a few bruises and a smashed nose she wasn't hurt. 

Cathie was in the house.  She tried to hold the big window in the west side from blowing in.  She couldn't.  She got out of the way just in time and ran to the kitchen door on the east side.  She couldn't get the door open and while
